What a hectic start to the New Year. The first seven weeks have seen, amongst other things:
• Further turmoil on domestic and world markets
• Devastating floods in three states of Australia
• Horrific bush fires in Victoria, Australia
• Harsh northern hemisphere winter conditions
• And the start of the footy season... already!

It also seems the New Year has started with a bang for those businesses offering “budget” or “bargain” goods and services. Businesses such as McDonalds, The Warehouse and The Reject Shop all showing leaps in retail activity defying the trend in the economy. But what if that’s not you and your business?

What can you do to help yourself and your business? There are so many self help and business advisors, business coaches and business mentors out there offering their advice and services, most charging a fee for their words of wisdom. But wait! Sometimes the simplest things are so often the best...

Government Stimulus
Don’t be shy... wade into the government offerings! A large proportion of the stimulus spending will flow from infrastructure spending. It’s not all cash to the poor family! During bad times Governments’ increase spending on infrastructure and government operations as a way to indirectly increase economic activity. What does this mean?

TENDERS! Keep a close eye on the following websites and make sure you throw your businesses “hat into the e ring” for any contracts you may be able to fulfil. Some are panel contracts which mean there will be ongoing contracts for the supply of goods and services over a period of time. Be in... the smart operators are!

All of these websites are free to access. This is not a comprehensive list of all Government tender websites however you get the idea. Also, beware of the organisations offering the services for a fee to give you all the government tender documentation. Normally you won’t have to pay if you research these sites yourself.
